Portable vaporizers like the Ascent by DaVinci (website) don’t come out everyday and as a result, it’s not that often that an opportunity arises to test a truly awesome vape. As a result, this portable vaporizer review is likely going to come across as a bit enthusiastic, but then again, who wouldn’t be excited about a vaporizer with an all glass vapor pathway and the portability offered by a compact design incorporating lithium ion batteries that offer over three hours of vape-time. That’s an impressive combination that most vapor connoisseurs will recognize as immediately appealing. The vapor pathway is the path which vapor travels through and when it’s made from materials that are less than ideal, the vapor produced is often the same: less than ideal. With this new DaVinci vaporizer, the Ascent, glass was used to line the ceramic heating area so you’re heating off glass. Not only that, the two pieces that compose the internal tunnel that the vapor travels through are also made of glass. It might seem like a lot of emphasis has been placed on this all-glass vapor path, however, this is one of the reasons why these new vapes are so appealing to serious vapor enthusiasts. The end result of this combination — which by the way, takes advantage of convection and conduction — is a tasty vapor. Tasty might not do it justice, as Ascents are downright delicious. This is especially true when compared to other, lesser models, as many of the portables just don’t cut it when it comes to the taste test. You can buy Ascent vaporizers from the company who makes them at this online store. That’s DaVinci Vaporizer’s official store which makes it a great place to buy any of DaVinci’s vaporizers, including the Ascent.

Technical Information

Ascents were designed to allow for the user to program custom temperature cycles. These cycles let you set specific temperatures that the heating element will reach and maintain. It also lets you set the duration or amount of time to hold each temperature setting and it allows for up to a total of 3 temperatures and times to be set. This lets you setup a cycle that fits your preferences and matches your blends. The screen is an OLED display that does a great job of showing you what’s going on inside of the unit. A little animation tells you when it’s ready. The current temperature can be seen on the screen. You can switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit by using the settings button. The settings button is also how you access the advanced temperature controls. For simple temperature controls, there are a couple of buttons which adjust the temperature up and down located right on the front of the unit. This is a really easy vape to use. You just load it up, turn it on, and wait for it to heat up. That’s all there is to it.

The charger can be plugged into the unit while it’s in use. For some odd reason, that’s something that not a lot of portables offer so this is definitely a plus. This option was also available with the old DaVinci vapes.

Acceptable Blends

If you’re wondering if this particular handheld vape will work with your blends, there’s a good chance that it will. It was designed to use essential oils so if you happen to have some aromatherapy oils laying around, you shouldn’t have any problem vaporizing them. Simply insert your liquid into one of the glass oil jars and then plop it right into the heating area and you’re ready to go. You can choose to use the lid for the jar or you can opt to not use it. The choice is yours. It’s suggested by DaVinci that you don’t use the lid when vaporizing oils on higher temperature settings but that you do use it on lower temperatures, but again, it’s your choice. Typically, manufacturer recommendations are worth heeding. Well, the fun doesn’t stop there because these vapes aren’t limited to just liquids, they’ll also vaporize dry blends. That opens the doors to a diverse range of blends that can be vaporized with this pocket vaporizer.

Vaporizer Temperature

The ceramic heating element which is powered by lithium ion battery technology can heat the blend at temperatures up to 430 degrees Fahrenheit. The low end of the spectrum is essentially zero degrees and as a result, the range is 0-430F. Is this enough heat to vaporize? Definitely.
